Loughborough Loses Department of Information Science
Friday, 9 November 2012
The Department of Information Science at Loughborough University is going to close! The Times Higher Education Supplement reports;
"The department's closure was confirmed to its 25 staff last week, following a strategic review that concluded it should be replaced by a centre for information management within Loughborough's School of Business and Economics"
The article goes on to say that there are no plans for redundancies and that existing undergraduate and postgraduate programmes will continue.
The loss of departmental status and the limited scope of the plans for future research in the restructured centre are the main concerns expressed regarding the news.
